The artworks of Chiara Complice enrich the Exhibitor Lounge at Packaging Première & PCD Milan 2024.

The Exhibitor Lounge at Packaging Première & PCD Milan 2024 is enriched with the works of Chiara Complice, where the interweaving is not only the conjunction of metal strips but becomes an experimentation of complicity.

Chiara Complice will be present in the Lounge of the event on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 21, 2024, to meet exhibitors and visitors interested in learning more about the exhibited works.

Meet Chiara Complice

I was born in Russia, in Kaliningrad – the city that was home to Immanuel Kant.

Artistically, I adopted the pseudonym Chiara Complice. Chiara is the Italian translation of my baptismal name, Svetlana. Complice, from the Latin complex-plĭcis, composed of cum “with” and a root plek derived from plectĕre “to tie,” “to weave,” and from plicare “to fold.”

My interest in art has led me to experiment with people, ideas, and materials. In my works, weaving is not just the junction of metal strips, but it becomes an exploration of complicity: visions and gestures that intersect and become material.

I predominantly use recycled aluminum, which I chose for its ecological characteristics but also for its sensuality, plasticity of linear and curved forms, its brilliance that reflects the world, its contrasts: resilient yet delicate, cold yet conducting warmth. With my works, I play with light: an atmosphere that becomes a reflection, on things and on their way of being.

I enjoy weaving, uniting, connecting, creating, weaving, binding; these are actions with which I identify. Warp and weft are interdependent because the function of one requires the other, a dynamic relationship of alliances and tensions that make the artifact much more resistant than the individual fibers that compose it.
