Project: “Trajectory of an impulse”
Artist: Mariia Khomenko
“Trajectory of an Impulse” flows from the purity of White Flow—a visual silence of soft folds—into the force of Pulsation. In this red density, a vertical module meets fluid ridges like a sudden crescendo. The cycle ends with Shadow and Limit, where organic curves yield to rigid architectonics. Black absorbs all light through tectonic shifts and sharp edges. This vortex marks the point of crystallization, where the triptych’s rhythm reaches its absolute limit.
Work 1: “White Flow”
It marks the beginning of the cycle, exploring the purity and potential of form. It is absolute light, where the first movement is born. Soft folds resemble a frozen stream or the very breath of matter. This is a visual silence, a sustained note preparing the space for sound. A multitude of curves weave into a landscape akin to ripples on water. It is motion without haste — a fluid displacement of mass where white leaves the viewer alone with a pure rhythm, just beginning its run-up before the explosion of red.
Work 2: “Pulsation”
It is an immersion into the density of red. If white was silence, here matter responds to force, transforming into a complex system of folds. The composition thrives on the collision of two principles: a vertical module dictates discipline and tact, serving as a backdrop for organic drama. Fluid ridges “break” the grid, acting as a sudden crescendo. Deep shadows in the recesses feel like physically tangible pauses, while the light on the crests serves as the resonant finale of each movement, completing the journey that began in white.
Work 3: “Shadow And Limit”
It concludes the exploration of dense environments. The organic nature of “White Flow” and the expression of “Pulsation” give way to rigid architectonics. Black here is not a pigment, but the total absorption of light. Instead of folds, there are tectonic shifts and sharp edges. Geometric will pulls the planes toward a single center, creating a vortex into the abyss. Light becomes a scalpel, tracing the edges, while deep shadows turn into zones of gravity. This is the point of crystallization for matter, where the triptych’s rhythm reaches its absolute limit.
