WABI-SABI: a new paradigm for 100% recycled papers presented by ICMA at Avant-Garde 2025
WABI-SABI is the new ICMA collection that represents a new paradigm in the world of 100% recycled papers. It aims to encourage a change of perspective by proposing a responsible aesthetic that places less importance on “industrial perfection”.
Instead, it draws attention to a new form of beauty that takes advantage of the little imperfections resulting from the variability of the pulp and focuses on the careful use of materials and resources.
The new ICMA collection draws inspiration from the WABI-SABI philosophy and aesthetic, which combines two concepts: WABI, which celebrates beauty and serenity through simplicity and calmness, and SABI, the charm of objects marked by the passage of time, which has rendered them imperfect and humble.
The unique and innovative characteristics of WABI-SABI are:
• All the papers are certified with the FSC® Recycled Credit,
• 100% recycled bases finished with embossed printing in a process that dyes and embosses in a single step, enabling paper to be colored using a reduced quantity of pigment,
• Recyclable in waste paper collection,
• The paper is available in stock even in small quantities (minimum order of 125 sheets 72 x 102 cm).
ICMA’s project has been selected by the jury for the Sustainability category and will be exhibited in the Avant-Garde dedicated area at Packaging Première & PCD Milan 2025.
