“The paper bears witness” by Daria Songo and Yuliya Salukvadze for Folded Realities

Daria Songo | Yuliya Salukvadze

Daria Songo (born in 1995, Belarus) and Yuliya S. (Ukraine) are visual artists and designers living and working in Finland. Both come from multicultural backgrounds shaped by frequent relocations, which have profoundly influenced their research and their relationship with identity, belonging, and experimentation.

Daria, with a background in mathematics and experience as a software engineer, integrates an analytical approach into her artistic practice. Today, through ceramics developed at HAMK University, she explores human identity and its entropy through abstract forms and tactile metaphors.

Yuliya is a multidisciplinary designer based in Finland, currently pursuing studies in Smart and Sustainable Design (glass and ceramics) at HAMK. Her practice spans different design fields and focuses on the relationship between sustainability, emotion, and materials, with a language characterized by tactility, lightness, and continuous experimentation.
