SMUSH materials presents a circular and natural material made of organic agri-waste fermented through mushroom’s mycelium at Avant-Garde 2024

SMUSH materials produces a circular and natural material made of organic agri-waste fermented through mushroom’s mycelium, offering compostable solutions in the industrial filler packaging sector which are suitable to replace current plastics.

“Developing a natural and advanced technology, we are able to transform organic agricultural byproducts into a new advanced packaging biomaterial.”

SMUSH packaging is flame retardant, impact resistant and compostable: it can be easily broke apart at the end of its use and disposed as organic or even in the environment, not having to worry about the end life.

Moreover, the high modularity and volumes of industrial packaging favours thev reduction of large-scale production costs and guarantees the scalability of the proposed technology at a price comparable to that of current polymers.

The solutions we propose represent an ideal candidate to replace expanded polymers used in the void fill -cushioning packaging sector such as polystyrene/styrofoam.

SMUSH targets byproducts that are destined to no-use at the end of their life, closing the loop on the supply chain and creating a new circular network.

SMUSH Materials’ project has been selected by the jury for the Innovative Materials category and will be exhibited in the Avant-Garde dedicated area at Packaging Première & PCD Milan 2024.
