Materials, reduction, and new aesthetic hierarchies in contemporary packaging
In the language of contemporary packaging, it is often the details that make the difference—even the most technical, seemingly neutral ones.
The project developed by Furlanis for Packaging Première Milan 2026 stems from this observation: rethinking the badge holder not as an accessory, but as a coherent part of an event’s visual and material identity.
The intervention begins with a clear choice: removing the metal clip. In its place, an integrated system based on a recycled fabric adhesive label, capable of combining function, visual continuity, and material reduction.
The lanyard introduces a further layer of research through a pleated ribbon inspired by Japanese tradition. The surface comes to life, gains rhythm, and becomes distinctive without the need to add elements.
It is a project that works through subtraction: fewer components, fewer discontinuities, and greater control over the overall design language.
In this shift, even a functional object changes its role—from a technical support to an active part of the narrative, capable of reflecting a broader idea of luxury: essential, conscious, and built on detail.
During Packaging Première, this element will accompany thousands of visitors, becoming a widespread yet subtle presence within the overall experience.
