Dom Pérignon has unveiled its end-of-year limited edition Champagne, created in collaboration with Damien Hirst, one of the best-known names in British contemporary art.
The design takes its cue from Hirst’s Kaleidoscope paintings. It reworks the house’s historic shield into a repeating kaleidoscopic pattern in which the emblem “does not disappear” but “multiplies through the composition”, according to the house. The collection uses two colours, one for each wine. Deep blue marks Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018 and a “warm and gentle pink” marks Rosé Vintage 2010, a nod to the Pinot Noir at the heart of the rosé. Dom Pérignon says the partnership is built on assemblage. Each of its vintages is a blend of grapes from a single year, and Hirst’s practice often involves assembling existing materials, as in the Kaleidoscope series, where “fragmented elements are elevated into a unified whole”.
