The Tabi Collector Box by Maison Margiela reinterprets the brand’s iconic split-toe silhouette, transforming it into an unboxing experience designed as a collectible object rather than a simple shoe box.
Conceived, designed, and produced entirely by IDP Direct, the structure translates Margiela’s distinctive language into a precise and controlled construction system. The deliberately split form echoes the iconic Tabi gesture, while the essentiality of the materials and the purity of the surfaces reinforce the brand’s identity through reduction and rigor. The architectural construction engages in dialogue with the textile interior, creating a calibrated contrast between structure and softness.
Every detail is conceived to transform the act of opening into a narrative experience consistent with the Margiela universe. The project demonstrates how packaging can extend a brand’s identity through form, function, and controlled innovation, becoming an integral part of the product itself.
IDP Direct’s project was selected by the jury for the Design category and will be showcased in the dedicated Avant-Garde area at Packaging Première 2026.
