Packaging is no longer just a container, but the beginning of an experience.
There is a moment in unboxing that feels like a quiet revelation. The rustle of paper, the texture against the fingertips: every detail prepares for the encounter with what lies inside. It is a simple gesture, yet one increasingly rich in meaning. Packaging is no longer a mere wrapper, but the first chapter of an experience.
At King Union, a company specialized in high-end packaging and visual tools — from custom boxes and displays to tailored shoppers and couvettes — emotion begins at the design stage. From initial concept to prototyping, each creation is carefully calibrated to meet the brand’s needs. Shapes, volumes, structures and certifications come together with a deep sensorial research that enhances the unboxing moment.
“Our goal is to create packaging that is coherent and balanced in every detail,” explains Marco Ferraro, Product Manager. “Every material, thickness or finish affects the experience: the friction of a closure, the density of a paper, the softness to the touch. Nothing is left to chance.”
Velvet, leather grain or wood density become narrative elements, capable of evoking tactile and visual emotions that add value to the product. “We don’t create boxes, but experiences,” adds Cesare Forapan, Graphic Designer at King Union. “Container and content speak the same language, enhancing brand identity without ever overpowering it.”
In the in-house workshop, where concept meets industrialization, sampling is the heart of the process. Here, ideas are transformed into real experiences, testing tactile, visual and even acoustic responses. Even scent becomes part of the story, with materials designed to neutralize specific odors, enabling a truly multisensory unboxing. Between design and perception, King Union redefines the language of packaging, balancing technical precision with the poetry of the senses.
