CURIUS’ VETA+ MOLDED PULP PACKAGING

VETA+’s secondary packaging is made of compostable and biodegradable molded pulp, a blend of bamboo fiber and sugar cane residue, and is decorated via embossing. In order for the case to have vertical stability, base legs were added. The box also needed to be sufficiently rigid for the e-commerce channel, and have an opening system that was both "optimal and intuitive" for the consumer.

BIODEGRABLE FUTURE

Our additive allows microbes to create a biofilm around the plastic that changes the molecular structure. This makes space for microbes that send out chemical signals, a part of the quorum sensing process, that attracts other microbes. During this process, the microbes break down the chemical bonds of polymer chains at an accelerated rate. In the end most of the carbon is consumed, leaving behind methane which is captured for clean energy.
