PaperWise
About us
The most sustainable packaging doesn't start with a tree.
FSC-certified and recycled paper are better than what came before — but both still depend on trees. And every tree that's cut down, even responsibly, is a loss: of habitat, of biodiversity, of the carbon sequestration that living forests provide. Replanting helps. But it doesn't fully replace what was there.
There's a better raw material. One that already exists, requires no additional land, and would otherwise go to waste. PaperWise is made from the stems and leaves left over after food crops are harvested — transformed into high-quality paper and board with a 47% lower environmental impact than FSC-certified paper, independently verified by Life Cycle Assessment.
And it performs. PaperWise delivers the print quality, colour fidelity, and tactile finish that luxury and beauty brands demand — across weights from 30 to 350 gsm, and across offset, digital, and flexo printing. Your designers won't need to compromise. And you'll have a sustainability story that resonates with your customers.
Since 2015, we've worked with more than 3,500 clients across 23 countries — including IKEA, Lufthansa, and Tony's Chocolonely — values-driven brands that know what a B-Corp partner is worth.

Custom packaging, without compromise.
This folding carton was produced on PaperWise board — tree-free, agricultural waste paper that handles foil stamping, deep colour, and precision diecutting as beautifully as any conventional stock. We work directly with design and production teams to bring packaging visions to life, whatever the complexity.

Wear your values on your sleeve
When your packaging carries the PaperWise mark, it tells your customers something meaningful — that no trees were harmed in the making of it. Brands that choose to feature the PaperWise logo on their packaging qualify for preferential pricing. A visible commitment to doing better, with a commercial benefit to match.

Ivory paperboard for cosmetic packaging
PaperWise offers an extensive colour range of paperboard. The ivory, shown, is created through a chlorine-free bleaching process and without the use of optical brighteners.

Gift packaging
Weleda has designed several retail packaging options, featuring a lid and base made from unbleached, light brown PaperWise Natural 295-gram cardboard. Die-cut shapes and vibrant colors complete the design and enhances the gift-giving experience.

Beauty campaign gift packaging
Founded in 1921, Weleda produces 100% natural face and body care products. For a festive spring campaign, custom gift boxes were made from unbleached and white-coated cardboard in various weights. Ecological and creative, with a playful nod to spring!

Sustainability as a design choice
Fielden Whisky of England chose PaperWise board for their gift packaging — and let the material speak for itself. The natural texture of agricultural waste paper lends an warmth and authenticity that conventional board simply can't replicate. Tree-free, and unmistakably considered.

Sustainability beyond the package
Bags, wrapping, and retail packaging are part of your brand's environmental footprint too. PaperWise carry bags are tree-free, and fully recyclable through standard paper streams — or compostable at home. A small switch with a visible, tangible impact at every customer touchpoint.

Compostable adhesives
Most sustainable packaging still relies on conventional adhesives — which means labels have to be removed before composting or recycling. PaperWise labels are different. The glue and the label are both certified industrially compostable to EN-13432, so the whole thing goes in together. No separation, no compromise, no fine print.
