Stelmar: “From Waste to Packaging” for Avant-Garde 2023

Stelmar creates new durable bioresin casing for luxury fashion products

The Approach | The fashion industry is estimated to produce 9 million tons* of textile waste annually. The design aims to repurpose this waste and reduce packaging production.

The Concept | The concept is to create packaging for luxury fashion products from their own manufacturing wastes.

Benefits | No new packaging material is necessary. The packaging can be made in the factory. Each packaging can be custom to the product. The packaging acts as a hard case for the products. They can be used/reused for a long period of time.

The Technology | The concept involves the development of a durable shell for luxury fashion products. The new material can be made with various forms of bio-resin or plant-based plastics.

Innovation | The concept aims to use waste material produced in making a fashion product as the source material for its packaging. The case made both serves for packaging and protection of the product.

Easy Shaping | The material can be shaped for various types of products. For example, it can be used for shoeboxes or hardcases because of its moulded manufacturing. This way the packaging can be reused for different uses.

Marketing / Branding | The concept aims to encourage long term of products and their packaging for luxury fashion products. Brands can produce different textures and apply their logo in an original way depending on their product.
